Knarly Jones is a Theoretical Physicist, Math Professor, and Electronic Music Producer. Between balancing positions at two universities, Knarly produces electronic music as an outlet from his daily math and physics work. Deriving his sound from cinematic and electro-house influences, Knarly combines cinematic scoring elements to thick synths and heavy drop to create a truly unique electronic style.
Having spent his childhood playing the piano, Knarly bought his first turntables at the age of seventeen. Spending time at the last true record stores in Detroit, Knarly dug through record crates to find samples for his earliest piano and drum heavy productions. Soon becoming a prominent scratch DJ in the Detroit underground scene, Knarly become more involved with studio production by joining various regional groups as both producer and DJ. Such actions led him to be nominated for numerous regional DJ and music awards, including best producer in the Detroit music awards.
Soon after Knarly broke off to for his solo electronic project. "I've always wanted to land somewhere between Hans Zimmer and Rage Against the Machine, but with an electronic twist" says Knarly of his electronic works. After a few years in the scene, Knarly decided to take a break from music to pursue his academics more fully. Only working on music part-time Knarly was able to complete 3 graduate degrees in Mathematics and Physics. Soon after, landing a job as a university professor.
Since then, Knarly has rekindled his cinematic-electro style to create the revitalization of Knarly Jones. Using his music as an outlet to his job as a professor, Knarly has melded together numerous styles to create an epic and heavy sound that reverberates at festivals and with fans all over the world.
